Salary: $5090.62 – $6617.83 Monthly. Commensurate with experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
Provides professional psychiatric medical care for secure facilities patients. Conducts psychiatric testing and evaluation. Manages case planning, conducts psychiatric screening and consultation, creates appropriate treatment plans, and counsels offenders. Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitute for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Evaluates, diagnoses and assesses inmates with psychiatric illnesses. Analyzes patient data and test findings to formulate treatment programs. Prescribes, directs and administers psychotherapeutic treatements or medications to treat emenal, emotional or behavioral disorders. Collaborates and consults with physicans, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals to discuss treatment plans and related mental health issues. Provides advice and assistance in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient psychiatric care. Provides expert testimony in court case dispositions as required. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with a degree as a medical doctor including residency in the field of psychiatry AND three to five (3 to 5) years of increasingly responsible experience in a correctional facility, psychiatric outpatient clinic, or diagnostic clinic.

License: *Licensed to practice as a medical doctor in the State of Texas by the Texas Board of Medical Examiners. *Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Preferred: *Bilingual in English/Spanish *Certification in forensic psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week and works some holidays, nights and weekends.

Work site: Multiple sites below *500 West 10th Street, Travis County Jail *3614 Bill Price Road, Travis County Correctional Complex, Del Valle, Tx
