full time Principle Coastal Engineer/Planner

at Streamline Resources in California

Due to expansion and growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for two principal coastal engineers/planners to join our coastal team in their California office and support the growth of the North American coastal engineering planning and practice. The principal function of this role is to serve as the North American west coast coastal lead for project management, resource management and business development.
Essence of role – key accountabilities
Your priorities in this role will include:
• serve as senior coastal engineer/scientist in the California office, providing services for: coastal engineering and design, coastal restoration project design and analysis; environmental assessment; Coastal Zone Management Act and Clean Water Act permitting
• act in an independent manner to accomplish project tasks, receiving direction and oversight from the coastal resource manager and the West Coast regional director in the California office
• interact with clients, federal, state, and local governmental entities, and non-governmental organizations to identify innovative solutions to coastal challenges and to accomplish tasks
• maintain technical currency by actively participating in professional organizations
• maintain awareness of political and business developments that may impact or provide opportunities for the maritime business group in general, the coastal skill group in particular
• assist in developing and refining the business plan for the West Coast region as it relates to the coastal skill group
• assist in identification of potential commissions, development of proposals, and execution of project tasks for the maritime business group
Job requirements
Technical / professional expertise
The successful candidate should possess a relevant engineering, coastal or ocean science degree or equivalent and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:
• demonstrated experience in developing strategic coastal engineering and planning documents
• proven record in preparing and/or processing permits to comply with the Federal Coastal Zone Management Act and the Clean Water Act
• demonstrated experience in developing the business of engineering
• proven record in personnel management
• ability to present technical findings to a variety of audiences, including through multimedia presentations and written documents
