Salary: $13.25 – $16.23 Hourly. Commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions
Assists the Juvenile Probation Officer in casework preparation and documentation. Assists in researching and investigation the background of each case and counsels children, their families, and others to assess the situation. Coordinates the flow of information and contact regarding children in detention. Transports children. Assumes casework responsibilities of the Juvenile Probation Officer in his/her absence. Assists in all intake activities of referred cases. Assists and coordinates activities for the juveniles. Enters information on automated computer system. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social or Behavioral Sciences or a directly related field AND one (1) year experience in social services, criminal justice or related field.

License: Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Special Requirements: *Must be at least 21 years of age. *Certification as a Detention Officer or eligible for certification within six (6) months of hire date, including successful completion of CPR First Aid and Handle with Care (state approved physical restraint technique).

Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish

Grant Funded until 08/31/09 and may be renewed

Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
