Salary: $16.23 – $20.29 Hourly. Commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions

Assesses the substance abuse, psychological and environmental status of clients, delivery of cognitive materials and curriculums. Develops treatment, case management, data entry, record keeping and discharge plans. Coordinates referral to resources and services, and conducts educational and process counseling groups/individual. The program is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment model. Population is men at the Travis State Jail. Specific pre-release programs are substance abuse, family and marriage counseling, and anger management. Family and marriage counseling will also be provided for the spouses, families and children of the offenders both pre-release as well as post-release. Reports directly to the Social Services Program Manager at the Travis State Jail.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Social or Behavioral Science or a directly related field AND two (2) years experience in substance abuse counseling, social services or criminal justice work.
OR
Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements : *Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC); OR, *Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. *Valid Texas Driver’s License

Preferred: *Bilingual in English/Spanish *LPC, LMSW or LMFT

Hours: *8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and works some *May be required to work a few evenings per month

Work site: 8101 FM 969, Travis State Jail
