Salary: $11.00 – $12.37 Hourly. Commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions
Performs construction and maintenance work in one or more specialized programs in a large public works department. Duties include reconstruction/rehabilitation, surface maintenance, secondary drainage, right-of-way maintenance and/or customer services programs. Performs general road maintenance labor and operates light duty vehicles. Performs general traffic control. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment. Cuts, mows and trims grass and removes brush along roadside.

Required Qualifications
Education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of road construction and maintenance experience.

License: *Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License. *Possession of a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). *Possession of Texas Pesticide and Herbicide Applicator’s License may be required.

Special Requirements: Certification for inmate supervision within basic corrections officer training may be required.

Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Work site: *East Service Center – 6011 Blue Bluff Road or *Westside Service Center – 4501 FM 620 North

CDL REQUIRED (Proof of CDL or CDL permit must be presented at interview)
DRUG & ALCOHOL TEST REQUIRED

Job requirements for a Chauffeur

Qualified candidates will posses a minimum of a High School diploma and a valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving history. In-depth knowledge of the five boroughs, Long Island and the tri-state area is a must. The driver must be able to respond quickly to on-call assignments and demonstrate the ability to react rapidly, decisively and appropriately to threatening situations. Must have two years of experience as a chauffeur. Law enforcement experience is a plus. The chauffeur must attend driving, chauffeuring and related training sessions annually, as assigned.

A chauffeur must deal with the mechanical tasks of inspecting and driving a vehicle and arriving at potentially unknown destinations safely and in a timely fashion. In addition to mechanical tasks, a chauffeur must also be skilled in the art of customer service. The chauffeur plays an integral part in the client’s experience.

Superb defensive driving, observation skills and meticulous attention to details are required. Patience, punctuality, willingness to serve, and conflict resolution skills are necessary for a successful interaction with the client. Ability and willingness to complete a thorough pre-run and post-run vehicle safety check as prescribed by the company policy are crucial components of the chauffeur’s job.
